AgencySpring homeowner’s tips
Spring is right around the corner, and we’re sure you’re as excited as we are to enjoy warmer days, the bright colors of nature and of course, Red Sox games! With the excitement the change in seasons can bring, it’s important to set aside some time to give your home a good checkup to ensure everything is properly functioning after the winter.
Homeowners should perform these four activities in the beginning of spring to help maintain the value of your home and keep your family safe.
- Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors: Use the test button to ensure that the detectors are fully functioning. During testing is also a good time to change the batteries.
- Evaluate your attic and basement: Survey your attic and basement to see if there are signs of leaks or seepage.
- Check your roof for any possible damage: Snow, ice and wind can have harsh effects on your roof. Make sure you inspect it for any missing or broken shingles.
- Clean up your yard: Winter storms leave debris all over your yard. Take an afternoon to rake your yard to remove any lingering debris, thatch and snow mold. Once the lawn is all cleaned off, throw some fertilizer on it to get a jump start on a well-kept yard for the entire summer.
